I don't know about you, but 2007 was a blur. I remember my mother saying that the older you get, the faster the years go by. I did not understand what she meant by it then, but I do now because 2007 made a swooshing sound that made my pant legs flap. I understand that time does move faster, I am still investing why it seems so much faster. I have not quite figured that out yet. However, the fact that it seems faster is okay with me as long as it moves with purpose and joy. Those two things will gently guide my 2008 agenda. They will be my mantra for the steps I take in the coming year.
I have always been fond of New Years resolutions because of the promise they presented and the chance to start anew. What I have learned in the business of Coaching is the chance to start again is not reserved to once a year, it happens when you make a commitment followed by action. The beauty of that is that it can happen daily if you wish. You choose the interval, the pace and the action. Renewal and change is there waiting for you to pick it up and take it to the end zone.
For me, the difference between the commitments that stick and which fall by the wayside is in what I am willing to put out into the universe. I have to write them down, speak them aloud to myself, share them with a friend, or Mastermind group. Words become things. Words become reality when they are followed by action.
What are you willing to put out into the universe in 2008? What are you willing to put on the table and commit to going for it with everything you got? What have you talked about for years and never pursued? What would your life be like in 2009 if you achieved that goal?
Make a commitment to make a change that pushes the needle a bit for you. Take time to think about what can be different for you and do it. Live juicy and actually take the step you have talked about for so long. If life is going to move swiftly, make it a fun ride.
"Congratulations! Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places! You're off and away!"
